Here is the standard letter you will be sending:

Dear [LEGISLATOR NAME],

Funding for our Asperger's Program is in jeopardy!

Four Oaks provides after school programming for children with Asperger's Syndrome, a form of autism. This program is the only one of its kind being offered in the State and without it, Asperger's kids may struggle to get the skills help they need. Since the program began, the State has generously provided funding of approximately $25,000 per year in order to maintain this program. This funding was not a direct appropriation, but rather a requirement that the Department of Human Services allocate existing Child and Family Services dollars to the Asperger's program.

Unfortunately, the FY 2011 budget eliminates this allocation for Asperger's kids. HSB 736 provides nearly $80 million dollars for Child and Family Services, similar to the amount received in FY 2010. However, the direction to allocate money for our program was lost. It is important to know that children with Asperger's can often function at home, in school and on the job, when given the right tools and skills. The Four Oaks program provides the training they need to develop these skills.

Please support reinstating the $25,000 allocation for the Asperger's Program at Four Oaks.
